Before 2006 - OACCOACC held a members’ seminar/reception in /Toronto in October of 2005 which featured remarks by the Honourable Chris Bentley, Minister of Training, Colleges, and Universities; a presentation on privacy legislation by Harris Rosen and Alan Wolfish of Shibley Righton LLP; and an update of OACC’s work on the pending new private Career Colleges Act and its Regulations.
Throughout 2005, OACC participated in the consultations held by the Ministry of Training, colleges, and Universities with respect to the review of the PCC Act, the drafting of new legislation, and the development of the regulations to support such new legislation.
In February of 2005, OACC held an MPP reception at Queen’s Park which was attended by career college students/graduates, career college staff and owners, business association representatives, and more than 40% of the MPPs. The reception also featured two demonstration stations where students were able to demonstrate the skills they were gaining in both culinary and electronics programs.
OACC developed and submitted their response position in December of 2004, to the Bob Rae Review on Post Secondary Education in Ontario.
In the Fall of 2004, OACC attended many of the Town-Hall Meetings held by the Bob Rae Review on Post Secondary Education in Ontario.
In the Fall of 2004, OACC attended all of the PCC Act Review Consultations held across the province by the Private Institutions Branch of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
OACC developed and submitted their position to the Private Institutions Branch of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities on the Review of the
Private Career Colleges Act, in June of 2004.
OACC presented the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities with its proposal for a Training Completion Assurance Fund (TCAF) in September 2003.
