On-Going Work - OACC

OACC attends government fund-raisers in an effort to foster support for the private career college sector.

OACC co-chairs with the Deputy Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities, the Advisory Committee on Private Career Colleges that meets 3 times per year.

OACC meets as required with the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Postsecondary Education Division of

MTCU, the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Employment and Training Division of MTCU, the Superintendent of Private Career Colleges, the Director of the Student Financial Assistance Branch, the Director of the Postsecondary Accountability Branch, and managers and staff of various Ministry Units in all 3 Divisions of the Ministry to discuss issues of concern to the private career college sector.

OACC meets with elected MPPs to raise their awareness of the contribution of private career colleges and any issues that threaten the health of the sector.

OACC meets regularly with the Employment and Training Division representatives who are responsible for the implementation of the Second Career program to promote awareness of the private career colleges sector and raise issues of concern.

OACC actively fields enquiries about the private career college sector that come from potential students, current students, parents of students, counsellors, agencies, bureaucrats, MPPs, and the media.

OACC advocates on behalf of individual members where appropriate.

OACC sponsors information and emergency meetings for the sector as required.

OACC acts as an information resource for member colleges in relation to a wide variety of topics.

OACC communicates regularly with members in an effort to keep them up to date on matters that may impact their businesses.

OACC organizes an annual provincial conference to provide opportunities for private career colleges to network, attend information sessions, and provide professional development opportunities for their staff members.

OACC operates a Financial Aid Office for processing OSAP applications on behalf of its members and their students.

OACC provides a student transcript storage service for private career colleges and their students.

OACC maintains a directory of members and types of programs on its web site.

OACC is an active member of the Ontario Association of Student Financial Assistance Administrators.

OACC monitors provincial legislative Bills that create new legislation and regulations or amends existing legislation and regulations, drafts positions with respect to such Bills, makes presentations to government committees, and participates in Government consultation meetings on behalf of the private career college sector.

OACC actively participates as a member of government advisory Panels, steering committees, and focus groups on behalf of the private career college sector.

OACC offers an on line training centre that provides members the opportunity to take online courses and earn continuing education units at a discount.

OACC maintains a student portal on its website, located at www.ontariocollegesearch.ca

OACC participates in the world of social networking, using Facebook and Twitter sites and blogs to market new content.
